SMS
Send SMS to any Orange or Lonestar Cell MTN number in Liberia, at the same price on both networks, from a Sender ID customers recognise. To let customers reply, send from a Short Code.
Sender IDs and Short Codes
Every SMS comes from a sender, which is the name or number the customer's phone shows above the message.
| Sender ID | Short Code | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like | A name, such as ACME | A number, such as 4455 |
| Customers can reply | No | Yes |
| Use it for | Alerts, codes, reminders, receipts | Conversations, surveys, opt-ins, support |
| In the sandbox | PSandbox | 1234 |
In live, you request your own. See Sender IDs and Short Codes.
What it costs
SMS is charged per part. A part holds 160 plain characters, or 70 if the message has an emoji or another character outside the GSM-7 alphabet. A two-part message costs twice as much as a one-part message. The response's cost says what each message cost. See Sending SMS.
Replies from customers aren't charged. Prices are on ponitor.com/pricing/sms.
The endpoint
SMS goes through the Messaging API, with channel set to SMS:
| Endpoint | POST /messaging/v1/messages |
| Live base URL | https://api.ponitor.com |
| Sandbox base URL | https://sandbox-api.ponitor.com |
One request sends one message to one number. To send to a contact group or a file of numbers, use SMS › Campaigns in the app.
